Kanye West’s ‘Donda’ Has Finally Arrived and Fans Are Loving It: See the Best Reactions
Donda was first due on July 23 via G.O.O.D. Music and Def Jam Recordings following Kanye’s first large-scale listening event inside Atlanta’s Mercedes Benz Stadium, but then the project experienced multiple delays. Named after the rapper’s mom who died in 2007, Donda comes nearly two years after his ninth studio album, Jesus Is King, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
Donda features numerous high-profile collaborations, including The Weeknd and Lil Baby (“Hurricane”), Travis Scott (“Praise God”), Young Thug and Pop Smoke (“Tell the Vision”), Kid Cudi (“Moon”), Pusha T, Roddy Ricch and Ariana Grande (“Donda”), and more. But fans seemed most excited about West reinstating Jay-Z’s verse on “Jail,” which featured a different verse by DaBaby at Ye’s third listening event in Chicago.
“Kanye uploaded the Jay Z version of Jail instead of DaBaby. Thank you God,” a fan tweeted. Another onlooker shared a similar sentiment, writing, “omg Kanye kept Jay-Z on Donda thank you LAWD.”
At press time, West added a 27th track to Donda titled Jail pt 2,” but the song is apparently being held up because of clearance issues from DaBaby, according to an Instagram post by West on Sunday.
