Johnny’s WEST Bows at No. 1, BTS at Nos. 2 & 3 on Japan Hot 100

BTS’ “Permission to Dance” slips to No. 2 on the Japan Hot 100, still holding out in a number of metrics but figures continuing to decline overall. While the track remains at No. 1 for streaming (from 15,588,691 to 13,186,863 weekly streams), video (from 5,256,994 to 4,488,391 weekly views) and radio, the overall total wasn’t enough to keep Johnny’s WEST’s new single from topping the chart. BTS’ “Butter” stays at No. 3 but is also slowing down, with downloads falling 10-12 (from 8,617 to 5,788 units) and streaming holding at No. 2 (from 13,437,322 to 11,841,553 streams).

YOASOBI’s “Kaibutsu” rises 11-6 this week, boosted by the release of its English version titled “Monster.” The track is strong in downloads, powering the overall point total. The duo’s other track at No. 7, “Sangenshoku,” also has an English version that is helping maintain the song’s position in the top 10.

The Billboard Japan Hot 100 combines physical and digital sales, audio streams, radio airplay, Twitter mentions, YouTube and GYAO! video views, Gracenote look-ups and karaoke data.
