Drake Seemingly Confirms Rumored $500M Record Deal

Drake has seemingly confirmed on his new project Her Loss that he’s signed a record deal worth $500 million.

On the song “Major Distribution” off his new joint project with 21 Savage, Drizzy spits: “Bad Bunny numbers it’s a robbery/ Five-hundred million just for Aubrey.”

The lyric is likely in reference to his rumored re-signing with Universal earlier this year, which at the time was reported to have netted the 6 God a $400 million payday.

UMG CEO Lucian Grainge described the contract to Variety as an “expansive, multi-faceted deal,” that would cover Drake’s “recordings, publishing, merchandise and visual media projects.” An insider had additionally told the outlet that the deal was “LeBron-sized.”

The deal likely went down after Drake fulfilled his contractual obligations with his fifth studio album Scorpion back in 2018. The OVO head also spit some cryptic bars about the lucrative deal on his “Lemon Pepper Freestyle” last March.

“360 upfront, it all comes full circle,” he raps on the track, possibly referring to collecting $360 million.

This cryptic lyric on “Major Distribution” is just one of many bars fans have been dissecting since Drake and 21 Savage dropped Her Loss on Friday (November 4).

The 6 God made headlines when he implied on the song “Circo Loco” that Megan Thee Stallion was lying about allegedly being shot in the foot by Tory Lanez, to which Meg issued a scathing rebuttal.

Drake also ruffled feathers with his song “Middle Of The Ocean,” where he raps about having issues with Serena Williams’s husband Alexis Ohanian, the co-founder of Reddit. Drizzy and Serena were rumored to have been romantically entangled sometime in 2015.

“Sidebar, Serena, your husband a groupie,” Drizzy spits. “He claim we don’t got a problem but no, boo, it’s like you comin’ for sushi/ We might pop up on ’em at will like Suzuki.”

Drizzy also suggested on “Circo Loco” that his reconciliation with Kanye West was merely done as a favor to esteemed music executive J. Prince“Linking with the opps, bitch, I did that shit for J. Prince/ Bitch, I did it for the mob ties,” Drake raps.

Ye got wind of the disrespect but decided to let it go. “Enough already I done gave this man his flowers multiple times[.] Let’s really see who are real ops are in this music game,” he tweeted. “Imagine all the rappers on the same side and everyone cleaning up each others contracts It’s kingdom time[.] Love Drake #lovespeech.”

DRAM also wasn’t happy with Drake’s dig on the song “BackOutsideBoyz,” where he raps: “Tried to bring the drama to me, he ain’t know how we cha-cha slide (Yeah).”

The lyric appeared to be a dig at the time DRAM caught a beatdown from Drizzy’s security in 2015.

“Aye somebody tell Drake to shut the fuck up about that shit, man,” DRAM said in a response video posted to social media. “Fucking five years ago. This n-gga never touched me n-gga. I pressed his ass. His fucking bodyguards, God damn, I ain’t gonna hold you, his bodyguards went to town on the kid, but his bodyguards did it, not his bitch ass. He ain’t touch me. He’s a bitch, you know that.”

Megan Thee Stallion also didn’t spare any words when attacking Drizzy for his comments.

“Stop using my shooting for clout bitch ass N-ggas! Since when tf is it cool to joke abt women getting shot !” she wrote on Twitter. “You n-ggas especially RAP N-GGAS ARE LAME! Ready to boycott bout shoes and clothes but dog pile on a black woman when she say one of y’all homeboys abused her.

“And when the mf facts come out remember all y’all hoe ass favorite rappers that stood behind a N-gga that SHOT A FEMALE. People attack me y’all go up for it , i defend myself now I’m doing too much … every time it never ends and this did NOT happen until I came out and said I got shot … y’all don’t fwm okay cool fuck it bye.”
