CL Sheds K-Pop Past In Genre-Bending Full-Length Debut ‘ALPHA’
K-pop alum and international superstar CL has finally returned with her debut solo album ALPHA.
The 11-track bilingual album finally arrives today after a long delay, promising to showcase her artistic evolution and “a reminder of her dominance” in the Korean music scene and the global stage.
“I’m excited to finally be able to share ALPHA with the rest of the world,” said CL in a press release. “My fans waited a long time for it, but I believe that timing has a way of being perfect. This album reflects my true essence, and I can’t wait to introduce everyone to all the different sides of CL.”
Earlier this year, the first two singles “SPICY” and “Lover Like Me” were released, following her 2019 EP In The Name Of Love. CL’s full-length solo debut explores themes of self-empowerment and independence, reminding us that she is here to stay. With ALPHA, CL gifts us a genre-bending masterpiece, showcasing her talents as an all-rounder who continues to break industry and cultural barriers across the globe.

For those unaware, CL first made her mark as a K-pop idol with YG Entertainment’s 2NE1 and has since taken the world by storm with her rapping prowess, performance style, and as a fashion icon. For longtime fans, the album represents a culmination of her journey as an artist and more so, a new stage in her career, fusing Korean and American hip hop in ALPHA.
