Pop Smoke’s Mother Forced To Clean Up Son’s Desecrated Gravesite: ‘You Have My Attention!’

Brooklyn, NY – No parent should have to bury their child, but Pop Smoke’s mother Audrey Jackson was tasked with the unthinkable after her son’s 2020 murder. The 20-year-old rapper (real name Bashar Barakah Jackson) was buried at Green-Wood Cemetery south of Prospect Park, where he was supposed to rest in peace.

But over the weekend, Pop Smoke’s gravesite was destroyed by vandals who reportedly attempted to drag his casket out of the marble crypt. On Monday (September 13), Jackson shared a handful of photos to her Instagram account and revealed she was part of the clean-up crew.

“We cleaned up,” she wrote in the caption. “We sat and talked to each other and to him.”

Jackson also wanted to know why someone would do something like this, adding in another post, “Whoever you are, you have my attention! Now what?”

The mother of late rapper XXXTENTACION, Cleopatra Bernard, was among the first to comment with, “I’m so sorry. People are sick.”

Witnesses who discovered Pop Smoke’s damaged grave reported debris such as discarded joints and trash sprawled out in front of it.

They immediately contacted the grounds security who was unaware any vandalism had occurred. Photos showed images of Pop Smoke’s broken marble plaque, which had been engraved with his birth name.

Pop Smoke’s Grave Decimated As Vandals Try To Drag Casket Out

Pop Smoke was shot and killed during a botched robbery at a rented Hollywood Hills home on February 19, 2020. Corey Walker, 19, Keandre Rodgers, 18, and two minor teens were ultimately charged with the murder.

In May, the New York Daily News reported a detective involved in the case testified in court the group of teens believed to be responsible for the killing were desperate to steal Pop Smoke’s diamond-studded Rolex. The alleged triggerman was also just 15 years old.

The investigator said they had their eyes on Pop Smoke’s Cuban link chain but only managed to get the watch, which they then resold for a mere $2,000.
